Our Suppliers and Advisers

alocalprinter.com

Their motto of “Responsible, Recycled and Unrivalled” immediately caught our eye. Alocalprinter.com has printed all our stationery on 100% recycled or FSC certified paper with vegetable oil based inks using a printer that is 50% more energy efficient than its conventional equivalents! alocalprinter.com is as obsessive about recycling as we are and next on their agenda is going carbon neutral!

Claire Tucker

Claire is the genius behind the beautiful photos on Turnham Green’s website. Her passion lies in architectural photography, but she insists as long as she is behind a camera lens she is happy. She buys organic food whenever her budget allows and is an advocate of travelling on foot.

Domaine de Bequignol

Hidden in the depths of the stunning Dordogne in France, Monsieur Ginebre has established a small chocolate factory employing local people to produce a delicious range of high quality chocolates. As well as having an excellent taste in chocolate he takes pride in his use of recycled boxes and recyclable chocolate packaging. It was Monsieur Ginebre who introduced us to potato based protective filler which he also uses to protect his products during delivery.

Farrington Oils

After our blind rapeseed oil taste test, Farrington Oils came out our clear favourites. In addition to being delicious, this multi-award winning rapeseed oil producer is Britain’s first to grow, press and bottle on the farm. They are also committed to the LEAF Marque (Linking Environment and Farming) which gives you greater assurance that the food you buy has been produced in an environmentally responsible way.

Garden Africa

GardenAfrica establishes training gardens in schools and hospitals in sub-Saharan Africa. These gardens are used to teach people affected by poverty and disease to grow nutritious food and medicinal plants, using sustainable farming methods, to improve health and generate income. More than 90% of the donations go directly to projects in the field.

We support GardenAfrica by buying their Christmas Cards for your personal messages in the hampers and by donating to them each time you buy the bag on its own. For every five bags sold, we donate enough for GardenAfrica to buy a bee hive.

Grant Thornton

We chose our accountants on the basis of their technical expertise and their green credentials. Their new office in Leeds was built to eco-friendly specifications. In all their offices they use energy saving light bulbs and have introduced a re-usable “little blue bag” for their employees to use when buying their lunch. Additionally, they have various policies to reduce each office’s carbon footprint and encourage car sharing. Our branch is also involved in various local movements such as cleaning up the local canal and “Big Issue” building.

JuteBag.co.uk

We were really impressed with Amit and Parit who spoke with great passion about their business and in particular their ethical principles. They regularly visit their factories in Kolkata to ensure their ethical policies are maintained. They are looking into the most effective way of going carbon neutral – kindly helping us out with any advice they can offer. In addition to this they sponsor the education of 5 children in India.

Lloyds TSB

All the banks we spoke to have environmental, corporate and social responsibility policies but our local branch of Lloyds TSB is taking small but effective steps to proactively do its bit by using 100% recycled paper and encouraging its staff to turn off the lights when finishing in a meeting room. It is great to see a positive corporate policy becoming a way of life for employees.

London Bio Packaging

We were beginning to tear our hair out at the lack of environmentally friendly packaging available to small businesses until we stumbled across this London company. They produce eco friendly packaging including plant based bio-plastic that is 100% biodegradable and paper products that are made from recycled material and sustainable forests. They also adopt lots of green measures in their offices including using green electricity and recycling as much as is humanly possible.

Richard Bampfield

As one of only 250 Masters of Wine in the world we were very lucky to have Richard lecture us during our Diploma in Food & Wine at Leiths. As a first rate public speaker Richard really brings the world of wine to life through his witty yet fascinating anecdotes of his years of tasting. We were elated when Richard provided us with his seal of approval for our choice of sparkling wines, especially given his hectic timetable racing between lectures, wine launches, corporate wine events and meetings with wineries.

Robert Wilson

Robert Wilson is a pioneering tea planter turned importer who sells high quality Sri Lankan teas around the world. Robert is heavily involved in supporting a fair price for high quality tea and is a firm believer in encouraging the West to demand more from its tea than just a sugary, milky “builders brew”. Robert promotes tea tourism to the stunning island of Sri Lanka, encouraging tourists to learn more about the land and people behind their daily “cuppa”.

Timothy Han

Centred around the philosophy of “Sustainable Luxury”, we were delighted to find such a high quality candle maker that was also local to us in London! We could not believe our luck when we were introduced to Timothy Han who is 110% committed to creating the highest quality essential oil packed soy candles whilst ensuring everything from his bank to energy supplier boast the very best ethical credentials.

The Green Stationery Company

We source all our office supplies from this recycling obsessed company. They offer a diverse range of recycled and environmentally friendly products from paper to light bulbs – even their deliveries arrive in re-used boxes stuffed with recycled protective filler. We particularly love their recycled clipboards!

WMF

Our tea infusers are made by WMF which is a German company specialising in high quality kitchen and tableware. The tea infusers we have chosen are made by WMF in China, in partnership with accredited suppliers who comply with EU law and working practices. At Turnham Green we are immensely proud to be dealing with a company that is raising the standards of its small portion of the Chinese workforce.
